What’s On My Mind – Group Work

Sam Carter
Staff Reporter
I planned on getting away from the topic of school this week but as I sat down in my den with my quill and bottle of ink, my mind could not get away from class. You see, I just received a grade that is… below my standards so to speak, but I did not earn this grade because I did my work; I went above and beyond studying and creating a piece of work that would easily …

Here or… just here!: Flight of the Conchords

Frank Rodasky
Guest Reviewer

When The Flight of the Conchords, a comedy music duo from New Zealand burst onto the American scene during the summer of 2007, their irreverent, deadpan humor and catchy songs made the pair an instant cult favorite.
Broadcast on HBO, the first season of the series told a fictionalized account of two musicians (Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie) trying to make it in New York City, with a little help from their clueless manager, Murray (Rhys Darby) and their …

Letter from the Editor: Study Abroad

Kayla Goodman
At WTAMU, we have many individuals who have traveled across seas due to opportunities given by this University.
Some of those major trips are from the Readership program for the freshman class. This year, the trip is featuring Turkey as the destination.
A handful of freshmen will be chosen based on their essay submissions to make the trip to Turkey. Another traveling opportunity that happened this summer highlights a professor here at WT. Dr. Hansen, professor of voice, traveled to Paris… …

Paris when it sizzles

This past July, Dr. Robert Hansen spent five blissful days at the International Congress of Voice Teachers in the heart of Paris.
The Congress is a conference specifically for voice teachers from all over the world. With over 60 countries being represented, 400 educators attended this year.
These meetings deal strictly with classical music and include performances from the actual attendees, informative lectures, workshops with useful tips to further their professional growth and scientific presentations. They …

Buffs #1 in the region: Men beat UT-Permian Basin, 7-1
[17 Sep 2009 | No Comment | 119 views]

Megan Gerber
Prairie reporter
The Buffs dominated UT-Permian Basin in their home opener, winning 7-1. Two goals from Manuel Garcia, freshman midfielder, and Ben Everson, junior forward, led the Buffs to the convincing win.
Despite the score, Head Coach Butch Lauffer said a win against UT-Permian Basin is never easy.
“They are always a tough team for us to play,” Lauffer said. “They’re going to be motivated. I’m sure they will be well prepared to play. They are going to try …

Where have all the Buffalo (Fans) Gone?

I know it is frustrating that the football team is 0-3. Frankly, it flat out sucks. Over the past four years, the Buffs have posted records 10-2, 11-1, 12-1 and 11-2. Thanks to Head Coach Don Carthel, the football team has built a strong reputation for being a winning program.
This year we have started off slow and less people are showing up to the home games. On opening week, the crowd was estimated to …

No. 6 Central Washington Wildcats defeated the WTAMU Buffalos, 34-10, in Ellensburg, Wash. The loss drops WT to 0-3 on the season, while CWU improves to 3-0.
It was a sad sight Saturday for Buffalo fans as the Wildcats led 31-3 at the half. Coming out of the locker room, the Buffalo defense seemed to find a spark. They held the Wildcats to three points in the second half.
Inside linebackers Anthony Scott and Kevin McCluskey led the team with …

The Tri-State Fair will begin it’s annual festivities this Friday. Events such as a parade and the PRCA Rodeo will be some of the big events featured. Other entertainment will include concerts by the likes of Mark Wills, Trent Willmon, Jeff Bates, and Heidi Newfield.
