In 1951 the Fieldhouse, known as “The Box,” was the hot ticket for various events and well-known performers and enter¬tainers before the First United Bank Center opened.
Among the many students, fans and spectators who have stepped foot into the Fieldhouse, well- known figures such as Gerald Ford, Willie Nelson, Naomi Judd and Olivia Newton John have also graced West Texas at “The Box.”

This week, our staff wanted to feature something off campus. Not many individuals get the chance to see mass quantities of hot air balloons everyday, or even in a lifetime. Amarillo Balloon Association has done a great job in this area to bring one of the biggest rallies right here in the Panhandle. Otherwise, you would have to go to Albequerque, N.M. to enjoy this rare occassion.

No Justice is playing this Friday night at Midnight Rodeo in Amarillo. The band is originally from Stillwater and have been together since 2001. However, they weren’t really known until they signed with Smith Entertainment in 2005. Their best recognized song that plays over radio air waves is “Don’t Walk Away.” No Justice’s Texas country sound has a great blend of country-rock tones. The show starts at 10 p.m. and tickets are $10 for 21+ and $12 for ages 18-20. …

The skies were filled with wonder and awe this past weekend as they were painted with designs and colors of dozens of hot air balloons. Sights that are normally only viewed through calendars or stock photography came to life as the 4th annual Pirates of the Canyon Invitational Balloon Rally took place in Amarillo.
It was a weekend long affair with events that included a flight competition, trick or treating, night …
