West Texas A & M students left spring break a few weeks ago with the hope of getting the washing machines fixed in most dorms. The dorms were a crisis for most students living in the dorm as it interfered with their sleeping, and studying schedules.
“I had to make time just to wash clothes, and the best time was at night or early in the morning,” Juana Garcia Zepeda, junior international business major, said.
Jarret, Buff, Jones, Cousins, and Cross Hall were all victims of this outbreak in washers broken. Residents living on campus were extremely irritated and angry that this problem had been taking so long. For the many complaints, Jon Behrens, Director of Residential Living, sent an email to all residential living students explaining why it was taking so long. This email still caused a lot of questioning, but all students desired is for washers to get fixed.
“Residential living went through 3 service men and they were still unable to fix most of the washers,” sophomore, Pre-Vet Jocelyn Martinez said. “Now, 3 weeks after spring break, washers in most dorms have been fully functioning, but who is to know how long it will take if they break down again.”
Jarret hall had only one washer functioning, but just before spring break all the washers were fixed.
“In Cousins hall, we had several broken washers for the longest time,” Maria Mendoza, sophomore bilingual education major, said. “They had them fixed and have been working ever since.”
Residential living took a while to fix these broken down washers. For those fixed, students have been very satisfied. However, there are a few living in Jones Hall still experiencing some problems with the same washers or dryers broken down.
“There are still a few washers and dryers that are not working at this time,”  Alexys Romero, freshmen Engineer major, said. “For those washers that are always breaking down, Residential living should think about installing new washers to replace these old models. The same washers are the same ones breaking down.”
“They’ll fix them and then they will be broken the next day,” Jenna Harrison, junior Broadcast Journalism and AD/ PR major, said. “I don’t even like to do laundry in Buff anymore.”
