THCW’s Nightmare Pro, bang for one’s buck

Lillith Blood challenges for the Nightmare Pro Championship. The anticipation is palpable. As people file in and find their seats, an excited chatter fills the room. There are seats scattered around the floor and a bar along the wall, but a small ring in the center dominates the atmosphere. The lights begin to dim, save two spotlights above the ring, sending the crowd into a boiling frenzy. A ring announcer calling himself Caligula Jones steps underneath the glow, and with a booming voice, the show begins.

Total Hardcore Champion Wrestling’s Nightmare Pro, an Amarillo based professional wrestling promotion, began in 2010. Making claims that Amarillo had been “starved of great action,” the promotion has the stated mission of “[restoring] the prestige of professional wrestling in Amarillo, Texas.” Since its inception, Nightmare Pro has begun holding monthly shows at the Wreck Room in Amarillo. Its most recent show on Jan. 24 named “A House Divided,” featured matches between wrestlers such as El Gringo Loco, Phoenix and “Handgun” Dan, with the main event seeing Lillith Blood challenge THCW’s Nightmare Pro Champion Jordan Calubs.

Nightmare Pro, like other wrestling promotions, features a large assortment of feuds and alliances. One such alliance present at the Jan. 24 event was the Solution Revolution, a group of wrestlers whose stated intent in to discourage “hardcore” wrestling, a style of match in which weapons are used and wrestlers cannot be disqualified for misconduct.

“It’s not something that professional wrestling needs,” said Rick Elsey, leader of the Solution Revolution. “It creates a hostile environment for those who choose to actually apply their wrestling craft in the ring.”

He stated that he blames the fans and promotion equally for the perceived thirst for violence, saying that Nightmare Pro “glorifies bloodshed.”

He also said that while his organization is trying to “change the game,” they have no problem using hardcore tactics to achieve their goals.

“We fight fire with fire,” he said.

While the Solution Revolution perceived serious problems within the company, other wrestlers made use of a more gentle approach.

Pierce Price, a wrestler with Nightmare Pro, said that his focus is mentoring the newer and younger wrestlers and help them hone their skills. He stated that he had witnessed times where the “cream of the crop,” wrestlers would constantly be the focus of their respective promotion, while the less well-known wrestlers were kept “under the radar.”

While he expressed, “a hair of frustration,” with the process of moving newer wrestlers into the limelight, he says that the future looks bright for the athletes.

“There is a lot of promise. There’s a great hunger about them,” said Price.

Although many performers are trying to effect change, the fans appeared to be satisfied with Nightmare Pro. Arturo Carrillo, a fan since the 2010 launch, said that the promotion was “different” enough from others to draw him to the shows.

“I come out from Lubbock, two hours away,” said Carrillo. “They give it all to the fans, every show.”

Nightmare Pro will hold its next show, “Love At First Fight,” on February 7th at the Wreck Room, located at 6007 Amarillo Blvd. East in Amarillo.

You call this wrestling??? Please who ever reads this,I have been to a couple of these shows and trust me, this is NOT a family show, the “wrestlers” are cussing at every given moment and there is so much blood shed that it is just ridiculous! This should not be labeled as a wrestling show because it isnt! There are 2 shows running in Amarillo,TX, this one and NWA Top of Texas. That is wrestling right there, it reminds me of when wrestling used to run in the fair grounds or when the sportatorium was running in Dallas. But if you are wanting to take your family and friends to a wrestling show, then I assure you that Nightmare Pro is not the place to be. NWA Top of Texas is the better show in Amarillo. If you don’t believe me find out for yourself, they run every Saturday night at 7. Nightmare Pro is a joke, and spits on every person who has ever stepped into a ring!

^ I agree with u shanda, this place sucks and they will never have my money again! I left in the middle if there shows because it was just so fake. They have a woman competing against guys for the belt. This is why ppl think wrestling is fake, because of backyard places like this! Where is NWA Top of Texas???

  2. avatar Shanda

It’s across from Wonderland Park in hamlett, it says WRESTLEPLEX in big letters on the front.

    • avatar Truth

Shanda is really Jake Logan AKA Jacob Kelso AKA the son of the owner of the Wrestleplex.

This place is horrible, NOT A FAMILY SHOW!!! THIS PLACE SPITS ON EVERY WRESTLEPLEX WHO HAS EVER STEPPED INTO A WRESTLING RING! IF YOU ARE A FAN OF WRESTLING AND WANT SOME REAL ENTERTAINMENT THEN NWA TOP OF TEXAS IS THE PLACE TO GO! MY KIDS LOVE IT THERE! LAST WEEKEND THEY HAD AM AMAZING CAGE MATCH THAT HAD EVERYONE UP OFF THEIR FEET! NIGHTMARE PRO WILL NEVER HAVE MY FAMILY’S MONEY’S EVER AGAIN!!!

Ok, those people making comments aren’t Top of Texas wrestlers in disguise or anything. Lol… You left in the middle of 3 shows, huh? If that’s even true then answer me this… Why did you keep coming back if it was so horrible????? It’s obvious you’re trolling because the champ has only defended his title against Lillith Blood one time & that was the last show. You guys are just mad because we draw as many people at one show as you do in a month. We must be doing something right. Don’t believe these comments these two made. They’re just Top of Texas trolls. I know some of your regulars personally. They were so mad at how lame your show was last Saturday. They said the storylines made no sense whatsoever. I used to go there myself until I realized I could spend $10 to actually do something fun on a Saturday night instead of listening to crickets for 3 hours. Any promotion where the booker puts the championship on himself is in trouble. That’s just a guy with a chip in his shoulder, who got held down & peed on in highschool trying to get back at the world by stroking his own ego every Saturday night by making himself champion. It’s sad.

Nightmare Pro has never had your family’s money, Kelso. You have yourself away with the Sportatorium reference. You’re not Shanda…nice try though. Why don’t you just drop the jealousy and leave these guys and gals alone. Your show draws 15 fans weekly while Nightmare Pro draws well over 100 fans. Stop being a child.

    Hmmmm……..

Have some respect for yourselves. Stop posting under different names just to insult Nightmare Pro. Grow up. ToT sucks, it’s nothing but, a big circle jerk of Cody Jones, Jake Logan, and Nathan Briggs’ egos. You draw 10 people, your storylines suck, your shows are God awful. Just enough already.

    Lol ToT’s at it again…

I think I will refrain from spouting negativity about Top of Texas though I can think of a lot. I will say the WOMAN who the sexist remark was directed at trains hard, has built herself up successfully to the status of title contender, and overcame roadblocks by the thousands to get where she is. And could probably take you in a dark alley.

I wisdom and I personally have born witness to the great changes that are taking place at Nightmare Pro. Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither will this dream be achieved in a single day. But I guarantee you this we will continually give the fans what they want and deserve not just what the management believes they deserve. In regards to ” THE PREMIERE FEMALE WRESTLER ” This woman gives her all day in and day out and I have found it an honor to face off against her multiple times in the ring. She is tearing down the stereotype that women can’t or shouldn’t wrestle men and for that I commend her for her bravery and having the metaphorical stones, that most males do not possess, to step in the ring with such great opposition to face inside and out of the ropes. It is also my personal belief that this ” interpromotional war ” is down right silly and childish, very reminiscent of the lives we may or may not have led in high school and has only furthered our degradation as a ” territory” If we set aside our differences the fans as well as the workers can see the dream of wrestling in Amarillo reestablished as a respectable sport and territory. As opposed to being the laughing stock of the entire wrestling community. Until we can achieve this one single goal of unification and placing the people we wish to entertain, as well as the ones we work with ahead of our own selfish, pig headed, narcissistic ways this nightmare shall continue… Your Nightmare shall continue

    • avatar Pierce Price

Well I botched that like a cage match. * I will admit that this company had a rocky start but with experience comes wisdom*

Ladies and gentlemen of nightmare pro. rather that is the logans stirring the pot or not, it makes nothing better when you get online and try to fight fire with fire. this report gave nightmare pro great reviews, and it shined the light on all the hard work you have put into giving a good show and i applaud all of u, but when you get online and try to trash talk in response, you make all that work be in vain… just concentrate on giving great shows, keep getting good reviews, and keep the circle jerking jokes and comments about their booker and promoter to yourselves. forgive them for they know not what they do, and when u make comments like this, you prove you are no better then the people you dislike the most. why not let the work speak for itself. great job last show and keep up the good work, let your talents shine!!! great job, awesome matches and keep up the great work!!

P.S. if u havent been in this business for 6 years or more, or wasnt around for the WWA days, you should just keep your mouth shut and not have anything to say anyway… IDGAF who u are…

I think that since Nightmare Pro runs monthly on a Friday Night, next show being February 7th, fans should come watch the show, see what they think then go to NWA Top of Texas’ event the next night and see for themselves. It’s two completely different products. And speaking as a fan of the business, presenting a woman as a legit physical threat is not unusual as many accomplished woman wrestlers in the past 15 years have been presented as physical equals to men including Chyna, April Hunter, Nicole Bass, Asya, Mickey Knuckles, Amazing Kong, Sara Del Ray and Beth Phoenix.

    • avatar Lover of wrestling

I agree with this guy ^^^^^^^^^
If you want to see for yourself which is better & decide for yourself then check out the Nightmare Pro show on Feb 7 then check out Top of Texas the next night. Let the fans decide. By the way, advance tickets are on sale for $10 for the Nightmare Pro show. One ticket will admit two people. $8 at the door. Top of Texas is $10 per person at the door with no advance ticket sales. It’s not supposed to be about money, it’s not supposed to be about stroking egos, it’s not about slandering the other promotion. It’s about the fans. It’s about putting on a great show for the fans. It’s about giving wrestling fans the live wrestling experience. I challenge you to attend both & then decide who cares more about the fans.

Nwa ToT (also know as a sinking ship) has wrestlers that curse and spit on their fans. The lies with their fake names is what they do. They are running out of local guys that are willing to put up with their crap snd have to hire out of state guys who eventualy catch on to the bs.Allen the worst thing you taught jacob and Cassie is that is ok to lie.

  12. avatar SIXYEARSINTHEBIZ!

I don’t always hate on another promotion in the same town but when I do its because their product is far superior to mine.

  13. avatar LadyJane

I have been to several of their shows, maybe only missing one or two. Due to living in another part of the country I missed the WWA shows. I am impressed that these guys far exceeded my expectaions. I wish they would run a weekly Saturday show show that I may be able to catch them more often.

Lillith Blood embodies the classic since of what ladies wrestling was at the begining. She is not only believable but should intimidate any other man out there that pretends to be a wrestler.

Many of their wrestlers were not featured in the acticle. this is a shame because I believe they have the best wrestling talent in the Amarillo area. Fare exceeding anythin I have seen since my return to the area 4 years ago.

Keep up the good work guys. BTW anyone wanting to come to a show better get there early to get a good seat, they fill up quick.
