If you haven’t been to AT&T Stadium for any sort of game, be it for high school championships, assorted college games or for the Dallas Cowboys, you’re missing out. It’s a bit of a drive from Canyon to Arlington and save for having to drive through the obnoxious Fort Worth traffic, it is well worth it. The size of the structure is immense, and just seeing live shots or photos of the venue can’t justify what looms on the horizon in Arlington. I will say to those that did make it to the Lone Star Football Festival or watched it on television, the game was a proverbial barnburner.

Here are a few observations The Prairie made while visiting JerryWorld.

We want to stress on the size of AT&T Stadium. While we knew the magnitude of the stadium, the press box was something to behold. It was quite confusing initially. Our friends at KWTS were located on one end of the enormous press box while we at the Prairie were located on the other end. There, we were surrounded by reporters from the Amarillo Globe-News, the Dallas Morning News, among many other newspapers and media sources. The atmosphere in the press box was friendly and inviting, as we interacted with our professional colleagues for stat exchanges and observations from the contest itself.

Judging from the hype videos that were displayed during throughout the game, the folks manning and creating the video packages for the game were top notch. Also, we at the Prairie want to give a shout out to the Maroon Platoon as well. The Platoon was colorful and loud, and the subject of many camera shots into the crowd. From the press box, they were truly a sight to behold.

Chadron State had a really good squad, with a program steeped in tradition. Its most famous alum, Danny Woodhead of the San Diego Chargers (and known from his tenure with the New England Patriots) was a two-time recipient of the Harlan Hill Trophy. It’s the same trophy which Dustin Vaughan is in high contention for this season. Also, Chadron reminded us of Canyon quite a bit. Like Canyon, it seemed like a great community to house a university with great athletics programs.

Lastly, the game was one for the ages. But we’ll let the Facebook posts and Nathan Slaughter’s SportsCenter Top 10 highlight speak for how epic the game was. All in all, we recommend that you do include a visit to AT&T Stadium onto your bucket list as far as college experiences go. For we thank WT and the Lone Star Conference for providing its fans and personnel an experience of a lifetime.
