September 9 kicked off the annual involvement week, iWeek, on campus. The three days consisted of themes like iSucceed, iBelong and iCare. The purpose of the week was to help students learn more about what WTAMU has to offer them. Organizations present opportunities for students to get involved and share events that will be happening over the course of the semester. The Student Success Center was one of the organizations that participated in the fair with a table about the process on registering for classes.

“We do the green lighting and every student has to be green lighted before they register for classes,” Cedric Nquimatsa, part of the Student Success Center, said. “It’s where all first year students and some second year students will come and get green lighted in the Hub. The first few hundred students who get green lighted will get a free T-shirt.”

WTAMU also offers opportunities for students to have on or off campus jobs. The Student Employment Services is willing to work with students to reach their goals and succeed in getting a job.

“I’m here to promote the services at WT, and to let them know the opportunities they have here on campus and also elsewhere,” said Jana Nixon, Student Employment Services Coordinator. “It’s also to encourage students to start early in terms of preparing for their careers so that by the time they are ready for graduation they will be comfortable and confident presenting themselves to employers.”

iWeek offered free food and a chance to win a $500 Amazon Gift Card. Those who attended iWeek are eligible for the raffle.

“I liked iWeek because it gave me a chance to get involved with the community and in school,” Shannon Hanke, freshman pre veterinarian major, said.
