WT claims eleven titles at Open & Multis

The Buffs and Lady Buffs of WTAMU grabbed 11 event titles at the WT Open & Multis held at Buffalo Sports Park on April 12-13, including 45 athletes finishing in the top five in their events.

The Buffs won five titles and had 23 top five finishes, as junior Cameron Lacour won the title in the 110m with a time of 14.20.  Graduate student Ross Myatt won the title in the 400m with a time of 55.40 and senior Tanner Dennis won the title in the Pole Vault competition with a vault of 4.60m.

Junior Kenny Jackson won the individual crown in the 200m Dash with the fastest time in NCAA Division II this season, at 20.71.  The 4x100m Relay team of Jackson, Dennis, senior Xavier Bennett and sophomore Jerell Banks won the title with a time of 40.99.

The Lady Buffs claimed six titles and 22 top five finishes, as the 4×400 Relay team of freshman Bri Leeper, sophomore Rhemecka Graham, senior Tara Tarrant and sophomore Jessie Thomas won the event crown with a time of 3:52.09.  Junior Marisa Holiwell won the crown in the 400m Hurdles with a time of 1:04.41 and sophomore Emma Love won the 5,000m Run with a time of 18:37.00.

The women’s 4x100m Relay team of Leeper, freshman Libby Strickland, sophomore Carnisha Simpson and senior Sarah Snider won the event title with a time of 46.27.  Strickland won the title in the Long Jump with a distance of 5.65m, while junior Casey Nelson won the Discus title with a throw of 45.24m.

The Buffs and Lady Buffs will participate in the Mt. Sac Relays next weekend, on April 18-20, in Walnut, Calif.
