Agricultural Air Quality facility studies local odor

Another study that is being done is taking samples from the feedlots and putting them in plastic bags. Students have the opportunity to come in and test the intensity of the samples.  They must not drink coffee, chew gum, chew or smoke tobacco because it can disrupt smell receptors. Student will be rewarded for their time through payment.

“I do a lot of the lab work,” said Tyler Brown, a graduate student at WT. “I do preparations for the experiments. If we need bags, I’ll make those. I clean up the lab and take care of the equipment and I’ll go out to the field to collect air samples. My biggest interest was the research that was being done. It related to my interests in agriculture of animal science and it all comes down to the chemistry.”
