Buffs too much for Eagles

Five players score in double figures in blowout victory

The WTAMU men’s basketball team was at home Dec. 9 taking on Rhema Bible College at the First United Bank Center.

WT wasted no time in flexing its offensive muscle, blowing out the Eagles 94-40.  The 40 points is the lowest total allowed by the Buffs since Dec. 2008 against Oklahoma Panhandle State.  This was the largest margin of victory for WT since Jan. 2008 against Southeastern Oklahoma.  Also, this was the Buffs largest victory of the season thus far.

In the first half, WT’s defense made things very difficult for the Eagles as the Buffs jumped out to a 12-0 lead.  RBC didn’t score their first basket until the 15:16 mark of the first half.

The rout was on well before halftime as WT went into the locker room with a 47-17 lead.

In the second half, the Buffs lead grew to 68-17.  With 6:05 remaining WT led by 62 points at 86-24.  In the end, WT was just too much on the night coming away with a 94-40 victory.

Juniors Rod Little and Kendall Cogburn led the scoring for the Buffs with 12 points each on the night.  Senior Jacquiese Holcomb and junior Lionel Foster each chipped in 11 points in the contest.  Sophomore Mason White contributed 10 points.

The Buffs remain undefeated at 7-0, and will now prepare for Texas A&M-Commerce on Dec. 10 with tip-off scheduled for 7 p.m. from TAMUC Fieldhouse in Commerce, Texas.
