Some students look for a part-time job during their studies at WTAMU. Career Services helps students solve most of their job issues, find part-time jobs, full- time jobs and internships.

Steve Sellars, the experimetal education coordinator, said their goal is “to let students get a job as soon as they graduate”

Career Services offers several programs to assist students such as Internship Orientation, Resume Workshops and Interview Workshops.

Internship Orientation

This program is to inform students what is an internship, why is it important, and answer questions that students may have about the internship position. Career Services also helps students to find internship opportunities.
call and tell us they would like to have an intern work with them, but sometimes, Karl Kimsey, the employer relations coordinator, will also contact companies to seek internship opportunities for our students,” Sellers said.

Internship orientation opens every Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Students can sign up on Buff Jobs to receive internship opportunities through email.

Resume Workshop

Resume workshops have two main services for students: resume development and resume reviews/ critiques. Resume development teaches students how to build up a strong resume. The Career Services’ staff members instruct students step by step on how to write a professional resume.

Students are welcome to submit their resume online or just walk in to the Career Services office. The staff members will give students general feedback individually. This
program is opened every Tuesday and Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Interview Workshop

Career Services offers a program called “Mock Interview.” They ask actual companies to interview students. The purpose of this program is to give students an opportunity to practice interview skills and correct errors.

“There are many cases that students might just get the job while they were interviewed with the employers,”Sellars said.

Mock interviews are held only once a month. Students need to sign up on Buff Jobs at least three days prior to the day of the interview.

Career Services offers great programs to help students determine what field they want to work in. It also helps students to get either part-time/ full-time jobs or internship opportunities. Students are allowed to use all programs and have access to the databases that Career Services offers. All these services are free for students and remain free for a year after students graduate.
