Lady Buffs win LSC opener
The WT Lady Buff soccer team was at home Tuesday night taking on the Zias of Eastern New Mexico.
They came away with their first conference victory, a 2-0 shutout.
The opening goal of the match didn’t come until the 44th minute when Becky Peth scored from 18 yards out to give the Lady Buffs a 1-0 at halftime. WT outshot ENMU 10-2 in the first half.
In the second half, the Zias threatened the Lady Buff goal multiple times but were denied.
Berklee Watson put the game away for the Lady Buffs in the 87th minute when she slotted home a shot from five yards out to give the Lady Buffs a 2-0 victory.
Kelly Skehan picked up the victory in net for the Lady Buffs, giving her a 4th shutout this season. Her overall record stands at 5-1-2 and 1-0 in LSC play.
The Lady Buffs continue conference play Oct. 1st when they host Texas A&M Commerce. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
