The Macy's Thanksgiving day parade blasphemed Jesus Christ by giving "praise" to Santa Clause. CHRISTmas is about Jesus Christ not a ficticious man in a red suit. We need to change the way we think. Why is it that on everyone else's birthday the birthday boy or girl gets the gifts but on Jesus' birthday we give gifts to others who already have more junk than they need? Why not give gifts to Jesus? What would he want? The scriptures tell us, " As you have done unto the least of these so also have you done unto me." So, Jesus wants you to help the "least" among us.
The busiest shopping day of the year is "Black Friday" the day after Thanksgiving. The SECOND busiest is the first day after Christmas when people return all the stuff they don't want to the stores for refunds. We need to change the way we think.
This Christmas, buy a hungry family a week's worth of groceries, pay some single mother's rent, give a homeless man a coat. Stop wasting your money on cologne, ties, and toaster ovens that people don't need and will probably just return anyway. And when you give them something they need, spend some time with them, talk to them, pray with them, tell them that Jesus loves them and so do you. Then hug them. If you leave in tears you've had a good visit. Now, go out and change the world.....one heart at a time.
