Buffalo men’s soccer (7-1-1) shutout the Rattlers of St. Mary’s University (2-5-1) in front of 225 fans in San Antonio, 5-0.
Sophomore defender Nicki Nielsen began the scoring streak with a deflected ball headed to the left corner in the 43rd minute of the game.
Junior forward Ben Everson then scored four consecutive goals in the last half of the game.
His performance places him in an elite group of five Buffs to score four successive goals in a single match.
Everson started his four-goal streak scoring in the 47th minute. Senior midfielder Jacob Fynboe Jensen assisted Everson with a long pass, which he shot to the left corner of the goal.
A rebound off the Rattler goalkeeper gave Everson another shot, which he put away for his third goal. Everson capped off his day with his final goal in the 60th minute.
Junior goalkeeper Shane Taylor and sophomore goalkeeper Sebastian Furness shared the time on the field with three saves between them.
The next match, the Buffaloes will host St. Edward’s University Oct. 2 at 3 p.m. They will then match up against Texas A&M-International Oct. 4 at 3:30 p.m.
