No. 1 Grand Valley State Lakers routed the #13 WTAMU Buffs in the 37-23 season opener Saturday night at Kimbrough Memorial Stadium.
The Lakers have not lost a regular season game in more than four years.
A crowd of 15,093 fans watched as turnovers seemed to plague the Buffs during the game. The loss drops WT to 0-1 on the season, while Grand Valley improves to a 1-0 mark.
The Buffs tackle the gridiron again on Saturday, Sept. 5, when they host #16 Central Oklahoma. Kickoff is set to begin at 6 p.m. from Kimbrough Memorial Stadium.
